Distributed Exploratory Testing - Embrace the Chaos

Embrace the Chaos and then leverage it.

Exploratory Testing of a shared Service from multiple physical locations is quite chaotic. Instead of forcing everything to be easy and smooth, I want to present how we use chaos to our advantage.

Exploratory Testing of a shared Service from multiple physical locations is quite chaotic. Instead of forcing everything to be easy and smooth, I want to present how we use chaos to our advantage.

We use Exploratory Testing for our own Product GoToMeeting and do this by having people use it from all over the World, incl. India, Germany, and USA, with multiple Hardware Setups and different Personas.

Even though it should be straight-forward, the devil is as always hiding in the details. What I learned from just participating and then from orchestrating these sessions is what I want to present to you.
